- Bare Bright Copper (BBC):
This is the highest-quality scrap, mostly obtained from wires and cables. It consists of shiny, clean copper with very little contamination. Because of its purity, it commands the highest price in the market.
- #1 Copper:
Slight contamination is allowed in this category, such as soldered copper or copper with thin insulation. Common sources include wires, pipes, and tubes.
- #2 Copper:
This grade allows the most contamination and includes scrap such as pipes, tubing, sheet, and cable. Its price is slightly lower than Bare Bright Copper.
- Copper Wire Scrap (Insulated):
This type includes wires covered with insulation. After the insulation is removed, pure copper is obtained.
- Other Copper Scrap:
This category includes mixed copper scrap such as brass and bronze alloys.
